Maybe it’s your child’s snoring through the wall. Maybe it’s the jaw tension you wake up with. You’ve been told it’s nothing, or that they’ll grow out of it — and you still have a feeling something’s off. The symptoms look different. The root is often the same.
Some of the families who find us are in the middle of something: a tongue-tie release on the calendar, or one that happened months ago and didn’t change as much as they hoped. Others are just starting to notice — the open mouth at night, the restless sleep, the tired mornings.
Either way, the question is the same: what’s actually going on underneath? Joanne Nguyen, RDH, has spent 15+ years in clinical care. As a myofunctional therapist, she looks at breathing, tongue posture, sleep, and jaw function together — and works alongside your dentist, orthodontist, or ENT so the right things happen in the right order.

In their words
“My son is more confident, less anxious, and sleeping through the night. He is learning how to properly seal his mouth and swallow, and how to rest and use his tongue correctly.”
— Rashonda H., parent
“I was experiencing morning headaches and neck and shoulder tension, both of which have significantly improved since I started therapy… so kind and encouraging along the way.”
— Heidi R., adult client and parent
Common questions
Before your first visit
Where is the Long Beach office?
1355 Redondo Ave, Ste 7, Long Beach, CA 90804.
Which days is Joanne in Long Beach?
Joanne sees clients in Long Beach by appointment on set days each week. Call or text 657-768-6644, or start with a free consultation, and we’ll find a time that works for you.
Can therapy help after a tongue-tie release?
Often, yes. A release gives the tongue room to move — therapy is how it learns to use that room. We can work with you before a release to prepare the muscles, and after it to retrain how the tongue rests, swallows, and supports breathing. Your provider decides on the release itself; we work alongside them.
What ages do you work with?
Children as young as 3.5, and adults of any age. The exercises are gentle and take just minutes a day between sessions.
Can some sessions be by telehealth?
Yes. Many families mix visits to the Long Beach office with telehealth sessions — whatever fits your schedule.
